But when the pitch brief for Venmo came across my desk and the first rule was “Don’t use Venmo like a verb!” when that’s how everyone uses it, well…

Sadly, this campaign never largely made it into the world. The launch was scheduled right as the Harvey Weinstein news broke. I’m sure you can imagine why we thought pressing pause on suggestive headlines about paying someone back–winky and harmless as they may be–was the right call.
